Overview

A successful Group of engineering businesses determined to be a global supplier valued for high quality, technically advanced products and excellent customer service, delivered by a loyal, technically knowledgeable workforce and an experienced, highly focused management team.

 

As part of that management team they are currently looking for a commercially focused Group Financial Controller (Finance Director Designate), to undertake all aspects of financial management, financial reporting, budgets, cash-flow forecasting as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

 

Reporting to the Group Managing Director, the role will be responsible for the financial management of the Group and all of its legal entities, including all accounting reviews, audit, tax, insurances and compliance.

 

The position will be based at the Group Head Office in Caerphilly.

 

Job specification

  • Responsible for the preparation of all statutory financial information to UK accounting standards and the production of annual statutory accounts (IFRS experience would be an advantage)
  • Review and implementation of all (new) controls/processes/procedures and reporting for the Group
  • Work closely with the Group Managing Director and senior management team to assist the team in maximising growth and financial efficiency across the businesses
  • Update and maintain business KPIs
  • Assist with the Company Secretarial duties
  • Prepare all VAT computations and corporation tax submissions
  • Working capital controls
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, reporting of actual figures to budget/forecast.
  • Ad hoc Business Performance reporting; inter-company costing and pricing
  • Financial modelling, capex preparation; assist with any acquisitions (due diligence)
  • Liaising with auditors and providing statutory accounts to a strict timetable

 

 

Candidate profile

  • A Qualified Accountant with a track record in accurate and meaningful reporting of management information to agreed deadlines
  • Previous experience of working within a commercial manufacturing / engineering environment (oil & gas would be an advantage) 
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop finance team.
  • Demonstrable experience of working effectively at both strategic and operating levels
  • Results focused, hands-on management style
  • Strong commercial acumen with good negotiating skills.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate at all levels within a business.
  • Technically strong accountant
  • Operationally focused i.e. can translate the relevance of the business to the numbers and vice versa
  • An excellent communicator who can financial information and data to non-financial management.
