Overview

Due to the planned retirement of the current FD, my client is now seeking to recruit a replacement. A wholly owned subsidiary of a US privately owned Group, my client is a long-standing manufacturer of capital goods which are sold into diverse international markets including the metalworking, packaging, plastics, rubber, recycling, food, mining, aggregate and textiles sectors. Based in Caerphilly, with a total employee base of 130 people, the European turnover is in the region of £ 20 million 

 

Job specification

  • Responsible for Day-to-Day Accounting Functions (small finance team of 4)
  • Management and monitoring of internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting
  • Maintenance of General and Subsidiary ledgers including reconciliation of all accounts
  • Asset and Inventory management
  • Prepare inter-company entries to eliminate inter-company activity
  • Monthly reporting, both internally and to Head Office
  • Job costing
  • Commission reporting to agents/representatives
  • Responsible for Year-end Audits – Work with Auditors
  • Royalty calculations
  • Export and Import documentation
  • Cash flow management
  • Preparation of Operating Budgets and Forecasting
  • Monthly tax calculation and reporting
  • Responsible for Managing Company Banking
  • Updating Office Environment and Accounting Systems
  • Responsibility for all payroll functions, including understanding of awards and bonus
  • Payroll (monthly), PAYE & Corporation Tax knowledge required, preparation of P11Ds
  • Supervision of Admin/Reception/Accounting Staff
  • Provide reporting that measures progress against Strategic Plan Objectives

 

 

 

Candidate profile

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Accounting
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in General Accounting
  • Significant exposure to systems enhancement in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Manufacturing / Cost Accounting Experience
  • Understanding of UK Tax Requirements
  • Understanding of US Gaap Accounting Methods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience with Transfer Pricing Rules 
  • Experience of dealing with legal / HR issues as they arise
  • Willingness to travel overseas occasionally (USA)
